DevOps is derived from the two words development and operations. It’s an abbreviation for development (Dev) + operations (Ops) which together becomes DevOps. As a result, it’s about integrating the creation of an application or service with the maintenance duties. The advantage of doing so comes mostly from dividing conventional IT silos; having a single point of accountability for the entire life cycle of service lowers internal conflict and improves cooperation through common goals and KPIs.
